Sports Schools for Development and Peace

All SOS Schools - April 6, 2021

On April 6th, 2021, the much-awaited Sport Schools for Development and Peace event organised by Sport Opens School has finally taken place! Due to the global pandemic, last year this event had to be cancelled. This year, however, in spite of the adversities, we have decided not to give up and to celebrate our own way. The video which we have realised as part of the White Card initiative, launched seven years ago by the Peace and Sport organization, has allowed us to become part of an international social media campaign which brings together hundreds of organisations all over the world.

By participating in this campaign, our aim was to promote the values of tolerance, respect and peace, which are all central to the Sports Opens School project. All students and teachers who have participated in the project have had the chance to discuss the positive values promoted by sports as well as being able to experience what it means to be a part of a worldwide campaign. We felt that taking part in this event would have helped our students to better engage in the project and to gain a deeper understanding of one of its main scopes: promoting sport values and fair play.
